Ah, all is right with the world. Well, at least my little corner of it.

Today, I woke to the glorious feeling of the end of Daylight Saving.

Mother Time is back in charge. But she’s angry at being 2IC for more than half the year. A mother with her toddler, who’s thrown a massive tantrum in the supermarket, Mother Time a force that drags the caboose of DLS behind her. She is demanding to know the idiot who authorised the extension of DLS by six weeks each year.

Personally, I muttered good riddance when turning back the clocks. I imagine I’m in the minority, that there are many who’re sad to see its end. But it goes on for too long now: from early October to early April each year. It’s the antithesis of sense. I’m with Mother Time; I’d like to know who ticked the box to drag out our daylight hours.

So, for too few months, we’ll live with time as we’re intended. And then we’ll mess it all up again.

  1. I, for one, believe the whole world should stop the nonsense of this semiannual ritual of moving clocks up of back. Pick a time, one time, and stick with it year round. End of story.

  2. I’ve never been a fan. While most people assume it’s because I’m a Queenslander it’s more than that. Idiotic references to fading curtains and cow milking aside, I get up early and go to bed early. I have no need for light at the end of the day when I’m in the mood for bed and sleep.
In northern parts of the country it means that school kids are eating the evening meal while it remains hot, home work is a nightmare, and they miss the sunrise.

    1. I’ve always thought it counter-productive to drag out the afternoon light, keeping the heat of the day burning into the night. But that’s probably because, as you know, I’m not a fan of summer.
Right now, I’m enjoying a cool breeze, the light of the day is dimming, reading a book (with my new glasses…so can actually see the words now 😊) Life seems nice.
