The first thing that popped into my mind today, on seeing the word prompt, foolish things, was the song from the 90s by Jewel, Foolish Games.
Here’s a link, if you need a reminder:
This song tapped into my feelings over a relationship at the time. One that, in hindsight, was toxic yet, back then, all I wanted was for the relationship to continue, to flourish. Now, of course, I’m glad it didn’t and I can attribute that blip on my lifeline as the folly of youth and vacuous longing.
Anyway, have a listen to the song if you don’t already know of it. It’s a beautiful haunting tune, with lyrics that speak of the unhappiness in unrequited love.

The folly of youth, such a rich source for writing ideas and many unpleasant memories.

My first time hearing this song. Good choice to illustrate your story. Iām sure most of us have experienced a relationship that we wanted to never end, but end it did, and as we reflect back on it, it all turned out for the best.
